Kaminario's revolutionary innovation, DataProtect, enables the Kaminario K2 to deliver self-healing high availability and full data protection to SSD shared-storage environments without compromising on performance or scalability. DataProtect, a critical storage services layer within SPEAR, manages the K2's N+1 system redundancy, automatic failover and non-disruptive operation. DataProtect also manages the K2's fast and high-volume data protection capabilities for backup and disaster recovery with its unique RAID 10HD (Hybrid Distributed), Snapshots and Asynchronous Replication.
Flash and DRAM SSD SAN Storage: Freedom of Choice
Not all applications require the same level of storage performance or cost. The Kaminario K2 is the first true enterprise all solid-state SAN storage to allow customers the freedom to choose the right solid-state drive (SSD) media type for their specific application performance requirements, workload, and budget. Now customers can choose between DRAM, MLC Flash, or a combination of the two, to deliver specific performance levels for each set of application data. The Kaminario K2 also offers freedom of choice in its backup media for self healing high availability. You can choose between HDD and Flash SSD media for backup depending on the price/performance you want to achieve. The Kaminario K2 represents freedom of choice in a single storage system and all without compromising on enterprise reliability or ease of use.
Kaminario K2 Models
The Kaminario K2 all solid-state SAN storage solution comes in three models:
- Kaminario K2-H – A hybrid of DRAM and/or Flash SSD media for optimizing mixed READ and WRITE workloads. DRAM for WRITE intensive, latency sensitive data, and Flash for READ intensive data. The K2-H accommodates a mix of application types or the different needs of individual files within a single application’s multiple processes (database temp files, redo logs, etc).
- Kaminario K2-D – DRAM-only SSD media for WRITE intensive and latency sensitive random workloads such as high-end OLTP and DBMS applications. The K2-D is specifically designed for those customers that require the ultimate in SSD storage performance.
- Kaminario K2-F – Flash-only SSD media for predictable READ intensive workloads such as analytics, data warehousing and DBMS applications.
