Kaminario Offers White Paper on Accelerating SAP Performance and Scalability With Flash and DRAM SSD SAN Storage

Paper Shows How the Kaminario K2 Resolves I/O-related Database Processing Issues to Improve SAP Performance

Newton, MA – December 5, 2011 – Kaminario, a leading provider of high performance all solid-state Flash and DRAM SAN storage solutions, today announced the availability of a new white paper titled “Accelerating SAP Performance and Scalability with Kaminario’s K2-Hybrid all Solid-state SAN Storage.” The paper highlights how Kaminario’s K2, which combines DRAM and Flash SSD storage into a single high performance SAN system, can significantly reduce database wait time and accelerate SAP performance. Written by Eyal Markovich, Kaminario’s director of performance, the paper discusses how database processes can impact servers and storage systems, creating I/O bottlenecks and increasing response times for users accessing critical enterprise applications such as SAP. Slow or unavailable SAP access can negatively impact the pace of business. In addition, database performance can significantly limit SAP scalability.

The white paper points out typical approaches to improving SAP using an Oracle database performance, such as optimizing SQL statements and queries and adding processors or memory to the database server. Typical approaches that focus on storage performance include adding more disks and implementing RAID. However, these methods can be costly and/or produce minor improvements.

The paper explains that the Kaminario K2 all solid-state SAN storage system, which uses a combination of Flash and DRAM SSD storage, is a game-changer for SAP environments running on Oracle. The K2 delivers higher shared storage capacity with much lower cost and the ability to select the SSD media (Flash or DRAM) that is right for the Oracle implementation. The Kaminario K2 is powered by Flash ioMemory from Fusion-io. The Kaminario K2 provides breakthrough database performance and dramatically improves SAP performance and scalability.
