Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG) Lab Video Validates Kaminario K2’s Extreme Performance and Enterprise-Class High Availability |
NEWTON, Mass. – January 16, 2012 – Kaminario, a leading provider of high performance all solid-state Flash and DRAM SAN storage solutions, today announced an Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG) Lab Validation video with ESG Lab analyst, Brian Garrett, who discusses the outstanding results of testing the Kaminario K2 all solid-state Flash and DRAM SAN storage. The video is based on Garrett’s "ESG Lab Validation Report: Kaminario K2 Hybrid Solid-state SAN," which evaluates the next-generation K2 Hybrid (K2-H) solid-state SAN working on a variety of industry-standard, database-heavy workloads. The Kaminario K2-H supports both Flash and DRAM SSD media.
In the five-minute video, titled "Kaminario K2 Hybrid Solid-state SAN: Simply Faster Storage with DRAM and MLC Flash Capacity," Garrett discusses the "orders of magnitude" that solid-state solutions provide in improved I/O performance when compared to traditional disk drives, particularly for applications that require high performance and low latency. When surveying IT managers about reasons for deploying a Flash solid-state storage solution, ESG found that "improved performance topped the list."
Garret explains that in ESG Lab’s hands-on evaluation and testing of the Kaminario K2-H Flash and DRAM SAN storage, results confirmed that the K2-H is able to break through storage performance bottlenecks and yield high levels of performance and throughput that scaled predictably as storage nodes were added. Testing also demonstrated that the K2 architecture is fully redundant, highly available and safe.
Garrett states in the Lab Validation video:
"IT managers charged with keeping data secure and recoverable are often wary of implementing SSD. However, the redundant N+1, clustered architecture of the K2 Hybrid, with automatic fail-over and striping and mirroring of data across the hybrid Flash, DRAM and HDD storage media, provides enterprise-class levels of high availability and data protection. The K2 Hybrid provided non-stop data access as a variety of hardware was introduced during our testing, with no impact to the performance."

About Kaminario
Founded by storage experts from EMC, NetApp and IBM, Kaminario is leading the Flash and DRAM SSD revolution in high performance SAN storage. The Kaminario K2 family of all solid-state SAN storage eliminates I/O bottlenecks and dramatically reduces latency to accelerate critical business applications at a significantly lower cost and smaller footprint than legacy SAN storage. The Kaminario K2 is the first enterprise grade SAN storage built from the ground up to take full advantage of modern Flash and DRAM SSD performance. With built-in self-healing high availability, a modular scale-out architecture, open X86 components and media freedom of choice, the K2 consistently delivers ultra-low latency, tens of GB/s of throughput and millions of IOPS. Kaminario is a fundamentally new and better way to store and retrieve performance-sensitive data. Kaminario is simply faster.
Located in Newton, Mass., Kaminario has built a global network of business partners, including Dell Inc., which resells the K2 all solid-state SAN storage.
